Given https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox , you can expect that your kubernetes cluster will need to scale a lot faster then you originally expected.
Scaling against kubernetes in GKE happens extremely fast, and you need to watch your quoaas for this.
First go ahead and check out your quota.
You should see an alert when you try to scale, about how it got rejected.
Jump over to your IAM, click the resources you want to increase quota for, and then scale-away.
Default GKE clusters seem to grow quite easily in size, so don't be able to push it to 100 nodes.
Not sure what the limit is.
